Day : Downtown And Golden Triangle
On day 1 of our Denver travel guide, were going to visit the central districts and some of the top attractions in the city.
We start our day near the Capitol Building in the so-called Golden Triangle neighborhood of Denver. This area hosts some of the most significant landmarks in the city including the aforementioned Capitol, the Denver Art Museum, the Molly Brown Museum, and Civic Center Park.
The Art Museum is known for its excellent exhibitions and ultra-modern design, which provides the setting for some of the best photos in Denver. The Civic Center Park and adjacent Capitol Building are also two of the prettiest areas in the city, often the site for local festivals.
Moving on to Downtown, we enter the Financial District of Denver home to the majority of the citys skyscrapers and shopping centers.
The 16th Street Mall is the most popular corridor to go shopping and makes for a lovely tour of Denvers rapidly growing urban core. Free buses run along 16th Street for most of the day.
If youd like, take a detour to the Denver Convention Center to spot the famous Big Blue Bear!
As we approach the end of 16th Street, we arrive at Union Station, which serves as both a train station and cafeteria. There are lots of little eateries, bars, and restaurants inside Union Station and I personally love how exciting they make the station.
Whereas many American train stations feel decrepit, Union Station feels active and alive with both travelers and patrons alike.
Denver Center Of The Performing Arts
One of the best activities to do in Denver for those who enjoy live theatre is checking out a production put on by the Denver Center of the Performing Arts. This company, which was founded in 1972, has a 12-acre site at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, which is home to numerous venues that range in size from 2,880 seats to 185 seats. There, it usually puts on and hosts productions throughout the year, including world premieres and Broadway touring productions.
One of its most impressive venues is Boettcher Concert Hall, which was built in 1978 and has a capacity of 2,679 with 80% of its seats situated within 65 feet of the stage. This facility is the home of the Colorado Symphony. Meanwhile, its original structure was the Auditorium Theatre, which was renovated in 1979 and 2005, the latter one resulting in the creation of the 2,225-seat Ellie Caulkins Opera House.

The National Ballpark Museum Denver is an attraction that features the history of the game of baseball from its beginnings to the present. There are also major league signed bats, photos, gloves, balls, jerseys, posters, cards, and more that are on display. The museum is located at 1310 Wynkoop Street in the heart of the Golden Triangle, a neighborhood that has been home to many baseball fans over the years.
National Ballpark Museum Denver was founded in 2002 by Glenn Taylor, a lifelong fan of the game. He donated his personal collection of baseball memorabilia to the institution, which includes artifacts from the early days of the game.
The museum has a gift shop where visitors can purchase memorabilia, baseball apparel, and other collectible items.
The National Ballpark Museum Denver is located at 16th and Wynkoop Streets. Visitors can take the RTD to the Union Station stop or walk from the downtown area. The museum is open everyday, 10am-5pm, except for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-12, and free for children under 4.
