Take Your Picnic To A Winery
Arrington Vineyards hosts Music in the Vines, a summertime live music series.
From April to October, you can go out to Kix Brooks vineyard and listen to live jazz and bluegrass every weekend.
Pavilion seating and picnic tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so you might want to bring a blanket.
Sumner Crest Winery holds twice-monthly outdoor concerts between May and September.
Each concert has a theme, such as Beach Bash or a specific decade of music. Bring your own chairs and blankets, as seating isnt provided.
Beachaven Winery has a Jazz on the Lawn concert series. The concerts are held from May through October on some Saturdays.
If you want to enjoy some more lively dancing, games, and food trucks, you can go to their DJ on the Dock evening happy hour series on Thursday nights during June and July.
No outside alcohol is allowed at the wineries. Of course, feel free to purchase a bottle of wine to enjoy with the free concerts!

Bluebird Cafe Early Show
Because of limited seating and high demand, it is no easy feat to get a seat at the famed Bluebird Cafe. But some do get lucky.
There are several free admission opportunities. There is never a cover charge for the Sunday Spotlight, Sunday writers nights or Monday open mics. Most early shows do not have a cover.
However, there is a $3.28 reservation charge when you reserve a spot online, and there is a $10 food/drink minimum per person for all shows except open mics.
If you go for one of the first-come, first-served walk-up seats, you don’t have to pay the website fee. Good luck.

Dukes Of Hazzard Museum

The Farmers Market is located across the street from the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park.

Spend A Day On Natchez Trace
With fall colors on the horizon, take a ride down the Natchez Trace. You could make it a day trip in a car, or explore this bucolic two-lane road on a bicycle.
Either way, I recommend making some historical, cultural and nature stops along the way at places like Timberland Park, knee-deep Garrison Creek, beautiful Jackson Falls or the Meriwether Lewis Site.
If you are not familiar, Natchez Trace is a national park that runs 444 miles from Nashville, through Alabama, to Natchez, Mississippi. Instead of big trucks and gaudy billboards, on the slower-paced parkway , you see split-rail fences, old stone walls, farm fields and an occasional deer or wild turkey.
NatchezTraceTravel.com divides the Trace into the three state segments. The Tennessee segment is split into five sections, each named after nearby towns.
There is way more to see and do than you could fit into a day, so I advise you plan your itinerary from the many options on the site.
I strongly suggest starting your day with an old fashioned picnic pickup at Loveless Cafe, 8400 Highway 100. Wait until hunger calls, and then enjoy it like generations before you at one the many roadside picnic tables along with way. Gallatin Main Street Festival
The annual Gallatin Main Street Festival is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5 with music, a children’s area, craftsmen and more than 200 vendors. There is also a Third Thursday concert at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 19 featuring the James Story Band. The concert and festival are both on the downtown Gallatin square.

Stones River National Battlefield
This 680-acre Civil War battlefield in Murfreesboro has a visitor center where you can get a brochure and enjoy a self-guided tour. During the summer there are four programs daily, with ranger talks or walks at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and a 90-minute caravan tour at 2 p.m. where you follow a ranger in your own car to a number of stops to get a comprehensive tour of this site and its significance.
There are also bike tours at 9 a.m. on many Saturdays in the spring, summer and fall. The Battlefield’s popular hour-long Hallowed Ground Lantern Tours, are offered on select summer Saturdays. Henon At Centennial Park
The Parthenon is an interesting building in the middle of an urban park in Nashville.
It was built to commemorate Nashvilles Centennial anniversary and houses an art museum.
The museum has an entry fee, but it is free to explore the outside of the Parthenon with its columns and the nearby statues.
