Things To Do Near Lafayette La
1- As we drove into the area we stopped at the Welcome/ Visitor Center in the Atchafalaya Basin. This was a fun stop not to mention very helpful stop! We were able to get our ducks in a row and figure out exactly our plan of action with the guidance of one of the workers there at the Welcome Center.
2- Drive down to Avery Island and New Iberia via LA 31 through Breaux Bridge, Saint Martinville and then into New Iberia. This is a true cajun country scenic view with some quaint towns to drive through. We didnt stop at all of the quaint towns but if you had time to poke around I bet you could find some pretty neat shops and eats!
You will see a lot of the farming which is sugar cane very eat and you feel like you truly get to see what life is like in the bayou!
3- Visit Longfellow Evangeline historical site its a mere $4 entry fee, a beautiful grounds to walk around and explorea great history guided tour about the area, French, Creole and Acadians not to mention there along Bayou Teche. A neat historical inside museum, movie and then you are outside on the gorgeous ground where youll see the oldes living Live Oak in Louisiana.
4- Main Street Continue driving on into New Iberia and visit the downtown area if you have time.
6- Stop at Bass Pro Shop outside of Baton Rouge its like a field trip in and of itself and a great place to stretch your legs and the kids to have some great fun.
