Ponce Inlet Lighthouse is another famous site that will capture the kids attention. The kids will love exploring the lighthouse and learning about its history, having been constructed in the late 1880s and towering 200 feet tall.
Seafarers who frequently traversed the coasts treacherous waters at night benefited from its light. Its now a museum and historical attraction, but its by far one of the countrys highest lighthouses.
The original lighthouse was erected in 1835 to minimize shipwrecks along the shoreline. The present lighthouse, on what was then known as Mosquito Inlet, was completed in 1887.
