Sandy Key Park
Sand Key Park is located on the barrier island of the same name, and is home to both a beautiful beach and a diverse nature area. The park is part of an ongoing effort to create an artificial reef in the Gulf of Mexico, and also works closely with Clearwater Aquarium to ensure the safety of the sea turtles and their hatchlings.
In addition to its walking trails, Sand Key Park is ideal for bird-watching, where heron, roseate spoonbill, great horned owl, anhinga, and common moorhen nest and feed in the salt marsh.
The park’s beach area offers a good range of amenities, including lifeguards during the summer months, concessions, and bath houses. Plenty of rentals are available, so you don’t need to lug your own â you can get everything from umbrellas and cabanas to bicycles and kayaks. This beach is also one of the least expensive things to do around St. Petersburg, with only a minimal parking fee.

At the Humane Society of Tampa Bay , you can spend time with the family while giving back, extending some love to homeless animals, and creating smiles that last a lifetime.
Registered families will socialize with the animals, make crafts for the shelter/animals and make a memento to take home.
Family Volunteer Days are a great way to get out of the house with your family, teach your children empathy & compassion, and most of all, walk away with a great feeling knowing you made an animals life more comfortable.
We are following CDC guidelines. Face masks are currently required for all participants over the age of 2.

Halloween On Central In St Pete
22 blocks in St. Pete will be closed to traffic for a chance for families to trick or treat in the street! There will also be costume contests and festival activities. Discover what life was like for a child growing up in a Florida farming and ranching community more than 100 years ago!
On Cracker Country Homeschool Day, September 24, 2021, educators in historic dress will be on-hand to welcome guests to the 1885 Carlton House, Okahumpka Depot, Terry Store, School House, and more authentic structures.
Students will learn cow hunter skills, like how to read a cattle brand and what to pack for a long cattle drive. Plus, each young learner will enjoy demonstrations of daily chores and skills such as blacksmithing, cattle roping, and packing a chuckwagon for a long cattle drive.
Admission is $10 per person age 4 and up children 3 years old and younger will be admitted for FREE. Advance ticket purchase is required for this event.

The Pinellas Trail runs through Dunedin and is currently 47 miles long.

Baby Scene is offering their first-ever themed kids yoga class! This months class theme is back to school. Your kiddo will explore the abcs of yoga through movement, meditation, and fun breathwork. no experience is necessary!
Just like the first day of school, they will touch on all the basics at the individual class level: what yoga is, why we do it, and of course some really cool poses that they can show off at home! Baby Scene will also incorporate a story to go along with the theme.

Beaches Trails & History At Fort Desoto Park

Fort DeSoto
Five different keys make up the 1,136-acre Fort DeSoto Park, the largest park in Pinellas County. Numerous nature and recreation trails offer great opportunities for hiking, biking, rollerblading, and walking, and there is also a beautiful swimming beach and two fishing piers.
This is a particularly popular spot for bird-watchers, home to at least 328 species of birds.
The park is named for the fort located on the southern end of Mullet Key, built in 1898 during the Spanish-American War. Remains of the fort can be visited on a self-guided tour, and a small museum with historical information is located in the former Quartermaster Storehouse. Other buildings on-site include civilian quarters, barracks, the bakery, and the former hospital, among others.
Camping is also popular here. The park has 238 sites just a short stroll away from the beach. Sites have electricity and water central washroom buildings have flush toilets and showers. The campground has special sites set aside for those traveling with pets. Reservations can be made six months in advance for non-residents, seven months in advance for residents.
