Cedar Point Lighthouse And County Park
Cedar Point Lighthouse is located on the south shore of Long Island in Cedar Point Park in Easthampton. The lighthouse is situated on Cedar Island, just off of Cedar Point, between the waters of Northwest Harbor and Gardiners Bay.
Settled in 1651, Cedar Point was once a busy port for shipping farm goods, fish, and timber from Sag Harbor. The historic Cedar Point Lighthouse stood on an island 200 yards from shore when it was built in 1860. Its beacon served to guide whaling ships in and out of Sag Harbor during its hey-day as a major port. The hurricane of 1938 transformed the shoreline, shifting sands to create a narrow, walkable strip that now connects the lighthouse with the mainland.

Sunken Meadow State Park
Sitting on the North Shore, Sunken Meadow State Park offers exceptional views of the Long Island Sound and even Connecticut. Sunken Meadow Creeks runs through the park to tidal flats, emptying into the Nissequogue River. South of the flats vistors can find wooded rolling hills.
Sunken Meadow is popular among families for its large picnic area and exceptionally calm swimming waters. Playgrounds and a 3/4 mile boardwalk are available, as well.

Spend Time In Central Park
Visiting Central Park is one of the top things to do in NYC. If youre sick of museums and the bustle of the city, escape right into the middle of Manhattan! No trip to New York City is complete without a walk in Central Park! As the most visited urban park in the United States and at a size of over 800 acres in the middle of the city, Central Park is a place worth spending some time in.
You can visit the zoo, play at the playground, ride the carousel, have fun at Victoria Park, rent a boat, check out the turtles in the pond, relax in sheep meadow, visit Strawberry Fields where you can see the Imagine mosaic and tribute to John Lennon, ice skate in the winter, climb to Belvedere Castle, ride a bike, hop on a Pedi-cab, take a carriage ride, eat a popsicle, or just sit and people watch!
If everyone in your crew can ride bikes, I highly recommend renting bikes in Central Park! It is huge and this is a fantastic way to be able to see much of the park without tiring out little legs. The bikes do rent out quickly, especially during peak season, so I recommend getting to the rental places early, or you can reserve your bike here.
I always try to incorporate at least an hour or two into each day when we visit NYC with kids. Its amazing how much a little bit of nature can help to reset overstimulated kids!
Enjoy The Views At Barnegat Lighthouse
Also called Old Barney, this picturesque lighthouse makes for a great afternoon walk. Located at the northern point of Long Beach Island, Barnegat Lighthouse State Park is home to not only this landmark, but also a great patch of land for hiking, biking, and outdoor activities. Wait for sunset to snap a gorgeous photo of the lighthouse in all its glory.
