Visit The Amish Village

The food and the auction gave us an idea of what the Amish are all about, but we didnt to really get the full Amish experience and cultural immersion until we visited the Amish Village located in Ronks.

There are three different package options for the Amish Village. The Amish Farmhouse and Village tour takes you over 12 acres of village. Here you will find a one-room schoolhouse, barn with farm animals, blacksmith shop, smokehouse market, village store, windmill and a few other buildings. It will take you 25 minutes to explore the farmhouse. Plan on at least 30 more minutes to explore the rest of the village.

The second tour option is a bus tour along the back roads of Pennsylvania Dutch Country. During the 90 minute ride youll hear stories about Amish life, history, customs and culture. You will stop at at least one Amish home or business during the tour .

Want both? Choose the deluxe package which combines both options.

TravelingMom Tip: You can also do a guided house tour at The Amish Farm and House. It was the first tourist attraction in Lancaster and the first Amish attraction in the country. That puts it at the top of our list of things to do in Lancaster PA! Bonus: its located on Lincoln Highway which was Americas first toll road.

Top 5 Things To Do Near Lancaster Pa With Kids

There are so many things to do in Lancaster, PA with kids! This list could be longer.

A couple of weeks ago, I took the kids with me alone to visit family in PA and NJ. On the way up, we stopped in DC for 3 hours and saw a few great sights! On the way back down, we stopped at Dulles to see the air and space museum. It was a fun week, but oh so hectic. If baby girl didnt hate the car seat so much, I think it wouldve gone a lot smoother. But what can you do? Ive taken plenty of road trips alone with my son, so I was happy to have him there to help. He was the perfect distraction for her in the car, and he is currently obsessed with taking pictures so he got a lot of shots of me and Hattie girl for me. It worked out great. One of the things we loved was having a few hours one day in the Lancaster, PA area. I wasnt sure what to do with kids in Lancaster, PA so I asked my family in the area. They gave me some great tips! One of the things I had been considering was taking Jude to Hershey, so we made it a point to do that too. We both cant wait to go back in the future and hit up all the stops we missed! Here are my favorite things we did in Lancaster, and some more that we WANT to do soon!
