The Wallace House And Old Dutch Parsonage Association
The Wallace House and Old Dutch Parsonage Association is a nonprofit living history home museum preserving Somerville’s beautiful Georgian-style Wallace House. The home is best known for its use as a headquarters for General George Washington and his troops during the 1778-1789 Second Middlebrook Encampment. In 1970, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since 1897, the home has been in operation as a living history museum, originally opened by the Revolutionary Memorial Society. Since 1913, the Old Dutch Parsonage has also been preserved and opened to the public as a joint attraction. Today, visitors can tour both homes as part of guided tours throughout the week or explore their lovely grounds at their leisure as part of self-guided tours anytime.

Fun Things To Do In New Jersey: Trailside Nature And Science Center
Trailside Nature and Science Center is Union Countys Environmental Educational Center. It is built on a preserve of woodlands, fields, lakes, streams and hiking trails, making it a wonderful tourist destination. Guests get an opportunity to see the famous 34 foot American beech tree, which fills the whole buildings atrium.
Walking, biking and hiking on the centers natural surroundings allows for the most memorable moments. The arboretum has classrooms, a library, a childrens discovery room, and a large 250-seat auditorium. These facilities give it the advantage of hosting large groups. It even allows for hosting of birthday parties and other celebrations.

Every year I love having a bucket list: a list of places I want to visit with the kids before the year ends. Now, I am going to help you with your bucket list. Here is our list of free or inexpensive places for family fun in and around New Jersey. There are some truly amazing places in New Jersey area that the family can go for free, or at a very small cost. I have been to the majority of these with my family, and enjoyed it. The ones I havent been to are on my wish list of places to visit. However, please contact each place before going with any questions you might have! These are but a few. Each place is amazing and fun, definitely worth a visit!

Activities Near Me: Battleship New Jersey
Battleship New Jersey Museum & Memorial is the most decorated battleship museum in the country, with a mission to restore, preserve, exhibit and interpret the history of the USS New Jersey. The museum commemorates the brave sailors that served aboard the battleship, and is steeped in history.
Visitors can see the first issue of the Jerseyman newsletter from 1944, as well as the famous BB62, which was built in 1942 after the Pearl Harbor attack, with a long history behind. New York State is pretty special, with so much diversity, gorgeous landscapes and amazing hikes that are so much fun to explore. Theres a whole heap of the best things to do in New York State but its sometimes so easy to forget when youve got the bright lights of New York City.

Cape May Historic District

A visit to the Cape May Historic District is another of many fun things to do in NJ.
There are many fun things to do while you stroll the streets of the beachfront town.
Named on the National Register of Historic Places, the streets of Cape May in New Jersey are lined with 19th-century buildings some of which are now operable beds and breakfasts.
The Victorian Charm of these buildings is a sight to behold.
Besides strolling and basking in the charm of the town, you can also take a horse-drawn carriage ride or a trolley tour to take it all in.
Cape May has long been known as one of New Jerseys best seaside towns.
But its history-rich landscape is just another facet of this charming seaside town.
Near to the historical sights are many wonderful restaurants and shops for additional fun to be had.

African American Heritage Museum Of Southern New Jersey
The African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey provides an important and fascinating look at the struggle of African Americans through the centuries. Highlights include interesting displays and more than 11,000 historical and cultural artifacts.
The museum also houses a collection of memorabilia of soldiers from Atlantic County spanning WWI to present day conflicts. Permanent exhibits include a look at how stereotypes in media and marketing have had a lasting negative effect on African Americans.
Also of interest are its collections of furniture and housewares from early African American life, and the story of the African American entertainers who held prominent roles during Atlantic City’s glory days.

Historic Gardner’s Basin is a maritime village and waterfront park with a variety of interesting features that make it a worthwhile destination for travelers. Highlights include original maritime exhibits such as the Steel Pier Diving Bell, once used to lower guests to the seabed.
Gardner’s Basin is also a popular spot from which to embark on a fishing or dolphin-sighting cruise, or just to explore as you visit the unique shops of the Crafters Village. It also offers waterfront dining with fine views over the Atlantic, and is where you’ll find the Atlantic City Aquarium.

Colonial Park In Somerset Nj
Located on 156 Mettlers Road, Somerset, NJ 08873, this park is a must. Complete with hiking, biking, a great playground, a beautiful gardens, and even paddle boats! We have gone there several times this year. You can spend your day in this park and never get bored. We went once during the Rose season, and the garden is beautiful. The second time we went it was a chilly November day. We rode our bikes there, and played in the playground, still plenty to do! HERE is their very informative website. Estell Manor Park Atlantic County Nj
This great place was recommended by Crystal P. It does look amazing. Its in Atlantic County, NJ. HERE is the website with all the information. There are so many things to do at the park, they have sports, and free equipment rentals, you can launch boats, rent free bikes and helmets. There is fishing, bird watching, hiking, biking and so much more.

Not many places can boast the diversity of the East End. On the north fork, youll find calm beaches, charming towns, farms and vineyards, all which make for a fantastic day trip. From the Westhampton gateway and Dune Road, out to Montauk, known as the fishing capital of the world, theres nothing like a Hamptons experience, especially in the summer months. People often forget that Atlantic City is a great Jersey shore destination that even kids can enjoy, especially school-age children. Hotels usually cost less than Ocean City, especially in season, so its great if youre on a budget ! The boardwalk has a ton to see and do from the awesome water show in the Caesars boardwalk shop mall, to Ripleys Believe It or Not Museum, to the Rainforest Cafe and of course the beach and the incredibly beautiful water views and all the tourist themed stores. A short drive takes you to Ocean City also for double the boardwalk experience.

The Rink At Rockefeller Center

Make some figure eights in the most famous ice skating location in NYC! The Rink at Rockefeller Center is an outdoor rink visited by people from all around the globe each winter. The rink is open daily with 8 sessions from 8:30am through midnight. The rates varied from $25 to $32 depending on standard, holiday or peak time, and $15 per child under 11 years of age. Skate rentals are $12.50. Want to step away from the traditional and touristy rinks? There are plenty other places to skate in New York as well as New Jersey!
New Harmony Theatre’s ‘nunsense’

The 2018 New Harmony Theatre continues with “Nunsense,” the second longest running Off-Broadway show in history. It runs this weekend and next with evening performances at 7:30 and matinees at 2 p.m. at New Harmony’s Murphy Auditorium.

Hooray! We finally made it to Princeton. As a matter of fact, I now have to be there often with my kids. We have only began to explore this great town. Of course, Princeton University Art Museum was the first place on my list to visit. You can read more about our visit to Princeton HERE. There is a free admission to the museum. Nj Things To Do: Cape May County Park And Zoo
Cape May County Park and Zoo provides fun moments for both kids and adults, hosting a wide range of wild animals. Some of the must-see animals in the zoo include the rare Golden-Headed Lion, the Dromedary Camel, Ankole Watusi, American Bison, the Australian Black Swan, the interesting black howler monkey, alpaca, and the African lion, just to name a few.
There are scavenger hunts for both the younger and the older kids, and sleepover and adventure camping can be arranged in the zoo as well. There is a Zoo to You program in which some animals are taken to surrounding schools and estates, and lessons on the animals are provided.

George Woodruff Museum Of Indian Artifacts
Located in the Bridgeton Free Public Library this museum houses more then 30,000 pieces of Native American Relics. The admission is free. After I spoke to a wonderful lady there on the phone, she informed me that Wednesday afternoon is the best time to come, as there is some one there that is very knowledgeable and will be able to help and answer all the questions. Morristown National Historical Park
Morristown National Historical Park was the United States’ first National Historical Park at its founding in 1933. The 1,676-acre park protects a number of sites related to the American Revolutionary War, including General George Washington’s Headquarters at Ford Mansion, which is known as the site of the Revolutionary War’s “hard winter.” Washington’s Headquarters Museum showcases three exhibit rooms and showings of the documentary film Morristown: Where America Survived. Fort Nonsense overlooks Morristown’s landscape atop a hilltop overlook, while Jockey Hollow preserves the site of a former Continental Army encampment. More than 24 miles of hiking trails are also offered, along with the preserved New Jersey Brigade Encampment Site, which was used by large populations of soldiers throughout the winter of 1779-1780.
