Where To Stay In Tempe

Fun Things to do in Tempe AZ – How to Spend 3 Days in Tempe Arizona

If youre looking for a luxury stay in a prime location, definitely stay at the AC Hotel by Marriott Phoenix/Tempe Downtown. My room was stylish, modern, and a great place to unwind after busy days out and about. The hotel has every modern amenity, like complimentary Wi-Fi, a bright and clean fitness center, a luxe bar, and an on-site restaurant.

The AC Hotel by Marriott has a brilliant rooftop pool and relaxation area where you can lounge in the sunshine. I headed to the pool right after I settled into my hotel room. Feeling the warm sunshine on my skin and swimming in the refreshing waters was so dreamy. Plus, there were great views overlooking A Mountain.

Plus, I somehow had the whole place to myself in the mid-afternoon. The rooftop swimming area truly sets this hotel apart from the others. Combined with its excellent location near Tempe Town Lake, downtown Tempe, and A Mountain, the AC Hotel by Marriott should be your first hotel choice in Tempe.

Challenge Friends To Axe Throwing

This was one of those activities that Id always wanted to try, but laughed at the prospect. I thought Id be truly horrible at it. Watch out! Thankfully, the teachers at LumberjAxes are incredibly kind, patient, and helpful. I actually warned everyone that Im terrible at throwing things in general, and to essentially watch themselves. As it turned out, I was able to throw the axe into the wooden wall and have it stick on my second attempt! It was shocking and amazing.

This was one of the most insanely fun things to do in Tempe. You need a bit of skill and a bit of luck to get the axe to stick into the wall. Theres something thats just really satisfying about throwing axes at walls. Its not something that you do everyday, and its really exciting to throw the axes around with a group of friends. Plus, at LumberjAxes, you can bring food and drink in with you for a little party behind the throwing lanes. If youre looking for what to do in Tempe or something to do with your friends, dont hesitate to try axe throwing at LumberjAxes because youll have an awesome time.

Admire Public Art & Architecture

If you regularly follow the blog, youll know that Im a huge fan of public art and I try to see some in every city that I visit. Tempe has no shortage of unique public art and architecture that showcase its artistic and progressive nature.

The city promotes and welcomes permanent and temporary public art as an expressive tool that supports and encourages a strong sense of community and belonging. While I only had the chance to see a small portion of Tempes public art, I urge you to wander around and explore these art installations that are meant for everyone to enjoy.

Wander Around Downtown Tempe

I really mean what I say, just wander around downtown Tempe and see what you come across. Id recommend starting around South Mill Avenue and 3rd Street, and then walking south towards University Drive, and then back down the other side from the direction you came. There are a few interesting stores that I just found myself walking in and out of such as the Hippie Gypsy, and, in my opinion, one of the most picturesque spots in all of Tempe is the view of theValley Art Theater.

Theres no right or wrong way to do it, its one of those fun things to do in Tempe which is, more or less, going to be choose your own adventure.

If you want to be in the heart of the city, but walking around and exploring isnt your thing, consider heading down to Tempe Town Lake, renting a boat and getting out on the water. Its just a short walk.

Kayak Or Paddleboard On Tempe Town Lake

Fun Things to Do in Tempe, Arizona in a Weekend in 2020 ...

It is a bit of a surprise to see a lake in the middle of the desert, but Tempe Town Lake offers so much in the way of outdoor activity. This man-made lake is shaped more like a river, with running/biking paths on either side and both pedestrian-only and car bridges connecting the two parts of the city. Not only is this a recreational area, but new apartments and living/working/entertainment complexes have sprouted up on either side, creating some prime real estate in Tempe, attracting businesses and young urbanites.

Tempe Beach Park is the launching pad for many lake activities. Boat Rentals of America operates a kiosk in the park that rents out kayaks, paddleboards, swan-shaped pedal boats, and even electric-powered donut boats that are perfect for groups! If you dont want to get out on the water, you can also rent surrey bikes to cruise along the lakefront bike paths with your gang.

After lunch, we took a walk and checked out Neko Mart. Get your snacking on at this small, hole-in-the-wall Asian market! They had a variety of Asian snacks from Lays from China to Nong Shim ramen from Korea, Japanese candies, and more. We got a few bags of uniquely flavored chips to bring back home.

We walked off a bit of our food and went to Mango Rabbit, also on the Spice Trail, for dessert! We heard Mango Rabbit had some of the best boba in town and Instagram-worthy bubble waffles so naturally, we had to try some.

They had so many things on the menu that all looked super good, not gonna lie, it was such a tough decision! But since we were still pretty full from gorging ourselves on Haji Baba, we settled on grabbing a bubble waffle and 2 boba drinks.

Mango Rabbit has so many bubble waffle options, it can be a bit overwhelming. But they do have a bunch of preset options which is nice because theyve already put something tasty together for you! Or you can also opt to create your own custom waffle.

We decided to go with the Holy Matcha bubble waffle preset which included a matcha bubble waffle with mochi inside the bubbles!

The toppings included matcha ice cream, more mochi, yogurt pretzels, and a condensed milk drizzle. We loved how the mochi was incorporated into the waffle and would totally get this again!

As far as boba goes, we ordered the premium organic milk tea and jasmine green tea at 50% sweet with honey boba.
