Quarry Park & Nature Preserve
With 684 acres, the Quarry Park & Nature Preserve is the largest park in the Stearns County Parks system. What you’ll find are sprawling woodlands, prairie, wetlands, and even a quarried bedrock area. It’s a peaceful escape from the city streets, not far from downtown, but truly another world away.
Within the park, visitors can stop by the granite reflecting pools or swim in both of the quarries. The preserve has mountain biking paths, spots for fishing, hiking trails, rock climbing, cross-country ski trails, and even an area to practice scuba diving.
Walk among the quaking aspen trees and keep an eye out for other flora, like yellow lady slippers and prickly pear cacti. For a look back at the mining history of the area, visit the Liberty Derrick, which was used to load granite back when the quarries were still active. An audio tour is available for those who want to do a walking tour.

Munsinger Gardens in St. Cloud are highlighted by the Munsinger and Clemens Gardens, which were built by the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s.
Some time around 1980s, the gardens were fixed up, and in the 1990s, the 7-acre Clemens Gardens were added to them.
The site is a go-to place for nature lovers and photographers.
Moreover, Perennial Garden is also known for its recreation of a cast-iron fountain from before the Civil War.

Visit St Marys Cathedral
Whether youre a religious person or not, nothing will stop you from appreciating the mesmerizing beauty of St. Marys Cathedral, Saint Cloud.
Unfortunately, the original gothic-style architecture of the church erected in 1864 was burnt to the ground. However, the currently standing church was reconstructed shortly after the been and was completed in 1930.
Today, it highly resembles the basilica in Ravenna, Italy. You can visit the shrine of Saint Cloud inside the church, the namesake of the city himself. Besides that, the church also has a small museum to witness historic relics connected to the citys origin.
However, the most attractive artifacts include an alleged bone fragment of Saint Cloud himself, pieces of his clothing, and his statue from the 17th century. This church and museum are a must-visit if youre interested in the citys history.
St. Marys Cathedral is located in central St Cloud and is easily accessible by public transport. There are no charges for visiting the church or viewing the exhibits in the adjacent buildings.
Take An Excursion Along The Mississippi River
Although you wont find many St Cloud beach things to do, you can indulge in water sport alongside the Mississippi River. As one of the largest river towns in Minnesota, Saint Cloud is known for its fun activities at the riverbank.
Especially if youre traveling during summer, you will find yourself enjoying a crowd of Saint Cloud residents at the riverbank. Start your day from Sauk Rapids and head over to Clearwater.
On your way, you will find many riverside attractions, including Riverside Park, Hester Park, Wilson Park, the Riverbuffs Regional Park, and the Saint Clouds Country Golf Course.
These parks offer a combination of sports such as golf, basketball, baseball, cross-country skiing, volleyball, and tennis. Besides that, you can take up various watersports, including kayaking, canoeing, boating, and fishing.
Moreover, you can bring your boats and canoes to enjoy watersports with your family. Even if you dont have your own, there are many shops and outfitters along the Mississippi river where you can get geared up for your desired adventure.
If youre not in the mood for sporty activities, you can recline near the riverbank to enjoy the scenic view alongside the city. However, while theres no entrance fee in most parks for hikers and bikers, you might need to pay an additional fee for any water sports and activities you take up.

Start Off With A Good Breakfast
St. Cloud has two different bakeries to choose from for your morning donuts. Either Cold Spring Bakery or Dutch Maid Bakery. Both serve a large selection of doughnuts, treats, bread, and more. They really know how to do their carbs. Cold Springs Bakery is minutes from Quarry Park. We stopped in first thing for a wide selection of treats you dont normally see. We ended up taking our box of breakfast and took them on our walk with us around Quarry Park.
Being a true coinsure, we decided to stop on the way out of town and get some Dutch Maid treats for the next day. My husband and I both left wondering how to managed to get so much stuff and only spend $11. Its on the other end of St. Cloud but worth the trip.
