Mrida: Archaeological Ensemble Of Mrida
Founded as far back as 25 BC, Merida, which was once a thriving capital within Lusitania, boasts heartily that it possesses the largest number of ancient Roman trademarks in all of Spain.
Although the cities appearance these days may seem a little unappealing, once youve become accustomed to the modern eyesores, youll soon sense that Mérida still maintains some semblance of the gateway to the Roman empire that is now long gone. The Temple of Diana, Guadiana Bridge, and Amphitheater, are merely three of the highlights that continue to instill an ambience of the 1st century BC.

Attend A Music Festival
If two things are true about Spaniards, it’s that they love music and they love a good party. Perhaps that’s why Spain plays host to so many of the world’s best music festivals.
The largest is Primavera Sound, which takes place every spring in Barcelona and attracts a variety of genre headliners every year from Lizzo and Miley Cyrus to the Arcade Fire. For a festival that is strictly rock and roll, Madrid’s Mad Cool Festival usually features some big bands or you could find your way to Bilbao for BBK Live, which lines up a smorgasbord of rock, pop, indie, and everything in between. If you’d rather dance it out to electronic music, Barcelona’s Sónar Festival is a summer festival with an international reputation and three-decade legacy.
The architectural pride of Bilbao takes the form of Frank Gehry’s masterpiece museum: the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. Not only does the museum house a large collection of art, the exterior is also a prime example of contemporary architecture with its billowing folds that are designed to reflect light in new ways as the sun moves across the sky. The building’s interior is centered around an atrium shaped like a flower, while the exterior is covered in shimmering titanium panels that are reminiscent of fish scales, especially as they reflect the shimmering water of the Bilbao Estuary.
See The Cheetahs At Ro Safari Elche

Tapas And Wine In Logrono Rioja
Beautiful Logrono sits nestled amongst the rolling vineyards of La Rioja the region thats home to some of Spains most famous wineries.
Little surprise then that the city has a buzzing gastronomic scene, where you can feast on dishes made with local produce, washed down with the best wine from the surrounding vineyards.
It might not have much of the way of sights, but spend a few days hopping between stellar restaurants such as Iruña and Matute and wine bars of the Calladel Laurel and I guarantee that youll succumb to its charms.
Sleep In A Gypsy Cave
Sleeping in a gypsy cave is unlikely to be on top of every travelers list, but if you have a taste for unique experiences, the Sacromonte district of Granada might be the right place for you.
Perched in the hills above Granada, the caves of Sacromonte play host to the citys Roma community ever since the 15th century, when the Moorish empire fell to the Christians. Nowadays, tourists flock to the area to learn about their thriving history, get a taste of their unique culture and traditions, enjoy zambra , and even spend the night in one of the whitewashed cave-homes buried into these sacred hills.

Ronda: Ciudad De Ronda
Situated at the heart of Andalusia, Ronda is among the very loveliest of little towns in Spain. Though its currently developing at a reasonable pace, it still retains plenty of historic charm, and its La Ciudad, the old quarter, that sees most of the tourists flocking in droves to find those adorable sights and enjoy a little bit of romance into the bargain.
The old quarter is isolated from the rest of the town by a sizable river gorge, while being linked to it by a structure that is said to be one of the most photographed designs in all of Spain. La Ciudad formulates an enclave of folklore, cobblestoned streets, and historic splendor.
See The Claimed Holy Grail
Not suprisingly, every Spanish City has a cathedral and Valencia has one too.
The fascinating part about the Valencia Cathedral, is the Chapel of the Holy Chalice.
At the altar, you will find one of a few chalices claimed to have been used by Jesus to institute the Holy Echarist at the last super.
Even though it has been claimed, there is still no proof that it was really used.

Some of the top destinations here include Calella, Llafranc, and Tamariu.
Take A Free Walking Tour
Sometimes the obvious choice is the best one, and most travellers will want to sign up for a free walking tour when in Barcelona to get their bearings and get a little guidance on exploring the narrow labyrinthine of the Gothic Quarter . Barcelona has a rich history that stretches back to Roman times and beyond, and a walking tour is the best way to soak up some of that history and hear some of the legends and stories of the Catalan capital. While labelled free most walking tours work on the basis of tipping the guide 5-10 per person, and places need to be reserved. Guru Walks compares all the best tours.

Wind Through Medieval Cceres A Game Of Thrones Filming Location
Medieval Cáceres doesnt draw huge crowds, and thats precisely why we keep going back. The citys entire Casco Antiguo with its crenelated archways, Golden Age palaces, and 30 Islamic towershas been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and somehow it flies under the radar of most travelers to Spain. With hardly any signs of modernity in sight, its no wonder Game of Thrones chose Cáceres as one of its filming locations. The city is sleepy enough for a weekend of uninterrupted relaxation, but there are more than enough spirited tapas bars and tabernas in and around the Plaza Mayor to keep visitors entertained.
INSIDER TIPYemas, the egg-yolk confections redolent of cinnamon sold by the nuns at Convento de San Pablo, make terrific souvenirs.

Discover The History And Architecture Of Cordobas Mezquita
First of all Cordoba is hands down one of the best places to visit in Spain. An enchanting blend of Moorish architecture, flower-filled terraces and delicious cuisine its got a lot of appeal.
Still, if you only have time to see one thing in Cordoba, make it the Mezquita.
The mosque-cathedral is one of Spains most visited monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage site too.
So why is it a mosque-cathedral? First constructed as an elaborate and important mosque during Moorish rule, it was transformed into a cathedral when the Christians reclaimed Spain.
- Cordobas Mezquita
The end result is one of the most striking pieces of architecture youll ever lay eyes on: replete with Roman, Visigothic and Arabic influences.
Find Peace At The Montserrat Monastery In Barcelona
This iconic monastery was founded at the beginning of the 11th century by the Abbot of Ripoll and Bishop of Vic. They got it built inside of the multi-peak mountains just about 60 minutes by train from what is now the city of Barcelona.
The place offers gorgeous views and graceful rocky scenery with options of day hikes for people with restless feet.
Montserrat is an iconic Catalonian mountain and if you feel like skipping seeing the thousand years old monastery, which would be a shame, there are lots of other activities to do around Montserrat.
For example, you can take a funicular to St Jerome the highest peak of the mountain filled with tiny chapels , which were previously the homes of solitary monks.
