Indulge In Classic Boardwalk Eats
No trip to Rehoboth Beach is complete without chowing down on some of her most iconic foods. Favorites of locals and annual visitors alike include Grotto Pizza , Thrashers french fries, and Dolles homemade candies and caramel corn. My brother loves the Nic-o-bolis from Nicola Pizza. Personally, I cant leave the boardwalk without a Starkeys chocolate milkshake. And dont forget to stop into Candy Kitchen for some take-home treats, including their famous saltwater taffy!
Where to Find It:
- You cant miss the giant Dolles sign at the top of Rehoboth Avenue. Its on the left-hand side as you face the ocean.
- Starkeys is also along the boardwalk. Turn right at the top of Rehoboth Avenue its just past the five and dime store.
- Thrashers has a couple of locations downtown, including one on the boardwalk and another right beside Dolles.
- Nicola Pizza is located on Rehoboth Avenue near the 1st Street intersection.
- Grottos Pizza has three downtown locations, two on the boardwalk and one on the right side on the last block of Rehoboth Avenue as you face the ocean.
- Candy Kitchen is also located on the boardwalk at the very end of Rehoboth Avenue, with a second location on the corner of 1st Avenue and Rehoboth Avenue.

Visit The World War Ii Observation Towers
Eleven former watchtowers dot the beaches of Delaware and southern New Jersey. During WWII soldiers monitored the coastlines we enjoy today as they searched for approaching opposing military forces. The 80 year old towers serve as an unsettling reminder of our not-so distant past.
Of the eleven towers, Henlopen Tower has been preserved and is open for tours. If youre able to go to the top youll be rewarded with fantastic views of the Delaware coastline. Efforts are underway to restore open Tower #3 for tours as well.
If youd like to learn more about Delawares WWII contributions theres a three-mile pathway encompassing Cape Henlopen State Park marked with plaques explaining the significance of these towers.

Junction And Breakwater Trail
Another excellent option if youre looking to explore the area and get some exercise is to walk, run or cycle along the Junction and Breakwater Trail. Stretching six miles in total, the pretty paved path winds its way from Rehoboth Beach right up to Lewes and the Cape Henlopen State Park.
As it mainly follows in the tracks of the former Pennsylvania Railroad, the trail passes through both built-up communities and pristine nature spots. Historical sights such as a World War II observation tower and charming century-old bridge also line the picture-perfect route.
