The Teaneck Creek Conservancy Nature Park In Teaneck Nj
Tucked away in a quiet corner of Teaneck, this unique nature conservancy may be among Bergen Countys best-kept secrets. Located adjacent to the Puffin Cultural Forum, the Teaneck Creek Conservancy is actually a separate entity from the Puffin organization, although both make the list of mybergen.com favorite places to visit in Bergen County! Look for more information about the Puffin Cultural Forum in the next installation of 25 Great Places to Visit in Bergen County!
What the volunteers at the Teaneck Creek Conservancy have accomplished with this nature center is remarkable. At one time this was a staging ground for the construction of the intersection of Routes 80 & 95, and then for decades an unofficial dumpsite for one of the most populous townships in New Jerseys most populous county. But now, this parcel of land is a wonderful oasis for lovers of the great outdoors, featuring over 1.3 miles of groomed nature trails, an outdoor classroom, and ecological art exhibits.
While a portion of the nature walk is somewhat marshy and occasionally muddy, the Conservancy trails are easy to navigate and include charming little bridges to traverse creeks and muddier wetlands sections. Be on the lookout for the eco-art installations and beautiful native wildflowers throughout your walk.
As of early 2021, patrons can only access the park at the Fycke Lane entrance to the Arbor Terrace Bridge There is no access to the green or blue trails.

Grounds For Sculpture Another Attraction To Visit In New Jersey
Grounds for Sculpture is another fun thing to do in NJ. Just 20 minutes from Princeton, this sculpture park and garden is one of the most unique attractions youll see in New Jersey.
There are over 400 works, including more than 270 sculptures, most of which are larger than life. The museums founder is a sculptor, so several of his works are at GFS. Other sculptures are commissions by local and international artists.
Along with the sculpture grounds, there are six indoor art galleries full of smaller works and art installations. GFS is a playground for artistic people, but anyone of any age will enjoy walking around the grounds. You really feel like youre part of the art! I also think this is one of the best attractions in NJ for cool photo opportunities.
27. Grounds for Sculpture, an awesome attraction in New Jersey
I also recommend eating at the museums Rat Restaurant if you can. It was designed by GFSs founder and was heavily inspired by the Impressionist painter Claude Monet. If youre familiar with Monets famous Water Lilies series, youll recognize the atmosphere of Rat Restaurant its like youre dining among those water lilies.
The restaurant has a charming pond with a small waterfall as well as fireplaces, an aquamarine footbridge, and weeping willows. Dining on rustic French cuisine al fresco is definitely one of the most romantic things to do in New Jersey.

Johnson Park In Highland Park Nj

We have recently discovered Johnson Park. Located in Middlesex County, it is a sprawling, 473 acre park and home to Johnson Park Zoo. The zoo is an animal haven. You can purchase animal feed, feed the animals, walk along the promenade, play in the park, and more. Lots to explore there! I would combine it with a visit to the Zimmerli Museum . I wasnt able to find a website for this park, but you can read more about our visit HERE.

Double Trouble State Park Lacey Township Nj
We went to this lovely place this summer, it is a great place to cool off on a hot summer day. It has an active cranberry farm, a creek to canoe or kayak in, lots of shade, excellent hiking trails and a historical village. HERE is their website with all the information for the park. HERE is more about our visit there. I highly recommend a visit there on a hot summer day. When we go, the kids had a great time going down the stream using their little body surf boards, and just splashing in the water. Plus, we sat right under a wild blueberry bush.
Island Beach State Park
Located in Seaside Park, NJ, this gem is not to be missed. It requires a standard entrance fee for a state park, per car. $10.00 on the weekend, and $6.00 on the weekday for a NJ resident. Double that if the car is out of state. What a wonderful place it is! I loved how wild and untamed it was, with so much to see. With its silky sand, lush green dunes, teeming wildlife and clear blue waters, it has so much to offer to its visitors! You can read more about our visit HERE. See their WEBSITE for more information.
