Fun Things To Do In Hampton Roads For Adults

Things To Do In Hampton Roads

3 things to do this weekend in Hampton Roads: June 10, 2021

For the uninitiated, the Hampton Roads are seven cities of southeast Virginia: Newport News, Hampton, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Norfolk, and Suffolk. The Hampton Roads are best known for hosting many military bases and other government facilities such as NASA. Most famous is Norfolk Naval Station, home of the Second Fleet and said to be the world’s largest naval base. While the Hampton Roads are out of the way, or slightly off the I-95 corridor, they are less visited than other points to the south and west. Nevertheless, they have an interesting mix of history and culture. Close enough to the Hampton Roads, located up the Peninsula, is Williamsburg, and the Outer Banks is located down the coast thus combining a trip to the Hampton Roads with a visit to Williamsburg or the Outer Banks is quite practical.

Seaglass And Pottery Hunting

Most of us have collected seashells before, but how about seaglass and ceramic pieces? Thanks to all of the trash humans have dumped into the ocean, we now have a significant amount of glass and pottery that watches up on our shores.

The glass starts as sharp, large pieces and over time is withered down by the sand and the motion of the ocean to create beautiful, smokey pieces of art. Some of the rarest glass found can be dated back to the 1600s!

No More Paying More For The Healthier Bread

Does it ever bother you to see a higher price for a loaf of whole wheat bread than white bread? Well, when a person wants to opt for the healthier source of grains they turn to whole wheat bread because of its heavy protein content. However, in a study done at the UC Davis Department of Plant Sciences, if carbon dioxide levels continue to rise the conversion from nitrate to protein is inhibited. If levels do continue to increase as predicted, whole wheat will no longer be accessible and you’ll be able to buy that super unhealthy bread again at a cheaper price!
