Fun Things To Do In Downtown Greenville Sc

Swamp Rabbit Trail With Reedy Rides

FUN things to do in GREENVILLE, SC | Tips from Locals!

First, what is the Swamp Rabbit Trail? Much like Atlanta has the Beltline, Greenville residents enjoy the Swamp Rabbit Trail, a 22- mile multi-use path that connects you to parks, attractions, local businesses and other destinations.

We recommend walking or biking this beauty for scenic views. Our family rented bikes from Reedy Rides, located in Downtown Greenville and open 7 days a week.

While Swamp Rabbit Trail is almost perfectly flat in elevation, Reedy Rides offers 3- and 7- speed comfort cruisers. Both are perfect for the trail or the downtown streets. The boys rode kids bikes, but they also offer child trailers, tag-a-longs and tandems. Bike locks and helmets are provided.

We rode from the Reedy Rides downtown location, north through the Furman University campus, to Travelers Rest. It was about a 9-mile ride there and back and very easy though Ill admit to still being super proud of the boys. This was their longest bike ride yet -but also the one with the least complaints.

Our stop in Travelers Rest included crepes for them and coffee for us at Tandem Then afterward we headed to Farmhouse Tacos for tacos and a margarita Both of these places were fantastic, and we truly enjoyed Travelers Rest next time I hope we can spend a little more time there.

Get your coffee fix from Leopard Forest before heading to Trailblazer Park, the site of a weekly farmers market, and the Carolina Bee Company is a must-stop to pick up some local honey before heading out.

The Childrens Garden At Linky Stone Park

The Childrens Garden at Linky Stone Park is a a must-see for families visiting Greenville, South Carolina. The garden is designed to educate children about the plant life cycle and the importance of plants in our ecosystem. Throughout the garden, there are interactive exhibits that allow children to get up close and personal with the plants. They can learn about the different parts of a plant, how they grow, and what their role is in our environment. The garden also has a butterfly pavilion, where children can see these beautiful creatures up close. In addition, the garden hosts special events throughout the year, such as concerts and story times. Families can also picnic in the garden or take a leisurely stroll along the walking paths.

Catch A Show At One Of The Citys Theaters

Greenville is always hopping with concerts, lectures, ballets, and offbeat shows like The Simon & Garfunkel Story, and the Peace Center is usually the center of this scene. There are guest and resident companies, sure, but also traveling Broadway shows, a chamber music series, and Peace Voices, a program by Poet-in-Residence Glenis Redmond, which teaches participants the art of writing and sharing their own stories. Again, pros.

But the Peace Center isnt the only theater in town Greenville Theatre has been holding live performances since 1926. The resident company puts on a main-stage series, theater for kids, and hosts a concert series. Buy your tickets on a Friday afternoon, pick up lunch at the food-truck lineup outside the box office, and make a day out of Greenvilles artsy side.

Make sure to check out The Warehouse Theatre as well. Seating 150, it hosts live theater, yes, but it also seeks to empower its patrons through applied theater classes and professional development programs. And last but not least: Centre Stage. With nearly three decades under their belt, they put on several productions each season and collaborate with other local creatives think orchestral musicians and visual artists to synthesize experiences you wont find anywhere else.

Review Of Hyatt Regency Greenville

We stayed at Hyatt Regency Greenville on this visit, and I HIGHLY recommend it.

LOCATION

Hyatt Regency is centrally located in Downtown, with easy parking. Its in the heart of Downtown so we were close to all the shopping and restaurants, Falls Park, Reedy Rides and the Swamp Rabbit Trail.

It was just a hop and a skip to the Heritage Green, and museums thereand an easy shot out to Paris Mountain and Treetop Quest.

THE ROOM

We stayed in the Atrium Suite with spectacular views of the hotel atrium

The Suite was large, with plenty of space for relaxing. It included a mini fridge and full dining table. This was perfect for getting a little work done

I also loved that the Suite included two full bathrooms and a separate bedroom with sofa and TV and desk for mom and dad.

The boys slept on the sleeper sofa. It was a sectional sofa, but still made out into a bed.

The Atrium Suite was probably designed for entertaining or business meetingsbut for a family staying several nights in the area it also worked perfectly! Andits more affordable than you might think.

AMENITIES AND DINING

The hotel offers an outdoor pool and fitness center.

A Starbucks is within the same building, as well as Kilwins

We also dined one evening at Roost, the farm-to-table restaurant of the hotel. We enjoyed dinner, sitting on patio and watching the crowds go by as the sun fell.
