Located in the Ramsay neighborhood of Calgary, Scotsmans Hill offers amazing views of the city skyline.

Visitors can take the 159 stairs, which start down by the Saddledome, to see the sights of Victoria Park and the Downtown district.

The views are especially beautiful around sunset when the lights from the city begin to show.

It is also a good place to watch the fireworks which mark the end of Canada Day as well as The Calgary Stampede.

Princes Island is one of Calgarys most popular parks.

The setting for the citys Canada Day celebrations as well as the Calgary Folk Festival, Princes Island Park also features the Chevron Learning Pathway wetland area and environmental education walkway.

The park offers an oasis of greenery and fresh air in the middle of the city. Its a perfect spot to walk, jog or take a picnic in the warmer summer months.

Check Out The Library And Archives Of Canada

The Library and Archives of Canada is a massive building located just down from Parliament.

Tasked with preserving and maintaining Canadas history and heritage through documents, the LAC is actually the fourth largest library in the world!

Fun Fact: They have over 20 million books, 24 million photos, and 1 million gigabytes of digital content! Thats a lot!

Usually unknown to most, its open to the public and you can search through parts of the collection. You can also do a tour of the Library and Archives Preservation Centre in Gatineau. You can learn more about the LAC here.

The Vancouver Aquarium has been a mainstay attraction in Vancouver since 1956. Today, it houses over 65,000 different animals, with everything from fish, octopus, alligators, sea urchins, otters, seals, and even sea lions!

Pretend You’re A Paleontologist

Alberta’s Dinosaur Provincial Park charges no admission fee and allows visitors to explore real dinosaur digs. An interpretive center at the park shows visitors some of the fossils that have been uncovered. Guests are allowed to participate in a dig. Two outdoor fossil displays and five self-guided hiking trails provide fresh air and the opportunity to try spotting fossils in the wild. The park has campsites for overnight guests.

Also in Alberta, the Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park has the greatest collection of ancient rock art in the Great Plains of North America. The park also has a reconstructed North West Mounted Police outpost on display. The hoodoo rock formations are reminiscent of the Grand Canyon.

The Botanical Gardens + Butterfly Conservatory

The farther you move from downtown Niagara Falls, the quieter and more natural the scenery gets. If this is calling to you, then head for the Botanical Gardens and Butterfly Conservatory.

Located about a 10-minute drive north on Niagara Parkway from downtown, this 99-acre complex founded in 1936 is maintained by Niagara Parks.

These days, visitors can wander the grounds, check out the beautiful displays and gardens and the world-famous rose gardens known for having over 2,400 roses! You can learn more about the Botanical Gardens here.

Onsite with the Botanical Gardens is another unique Niagara attraction the Butterfly Conservatory!

You get to walk through a lush tropical climate with waterfalls and plants to check out over 2,000 butterflies! The giant glass greenhouse full of plants and animals is a highlight of the experience and you even get a short informational video to start off.

If you want them to land on you, move slowly and wear light, bright colours. Your visit is a self-guided tour so you can walk through it at your own pace. You can get your entrance ticket for the Butterfly Conservatory here.

Do A Boat Cruise/tour Of The Ottawa River

If seeing the city from land isnt exciting enough, you can always opt for a boat cruise of the Ottawa River!

To the north of the city youll find the Ottawa River sandwiched between Ontario and Hull, Quebec. You can check out the Lady Dive Tour we did here.

The river is known for many islands, bridges, and Rideau Falls another great photo spot you can check out. In any case, you can do a boat cruise with a guide to learn all about the river and the city.

We ended up booking the Lady Dive Tour bus the Amphibus that drives you around on land and then drives into the water as a boat!

We liked the tour it was informative and cool to see the city from the river. Heres the Lady Dive Boat Tour we did.
