Tour the three-story Victorian-era home of Lincolns mentor and campaign manager David Davis. Davis was a Supreme Court justice and senator from Illinois who was significant in 19th-century American history. The David Davis Mansion, also called Clover Lawn, has been a state museum since 1960 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The full tour brings you through 35 different rooms, where youll go on an educational journey through the social and cultural history of the Old West from the 1850s to the 1880s. Youll learn about the family, Victorian architecture, servant life, domestic life, and the start of the Industrial Age.

The estate also features the prized garden of Davis wife Sarah Davis. Nearly a century and a half old, Sarahs Garden was inspired by the Italian gardens of the 17th century and English gardens of the 18th century.

Pay A Visit To Monroe Lake

Spanning 10,750 acres while being surrounded by 24,000 more acres of protected areas, make sure to check out Monroe Lake.

Located just 20 minutes south of Bloomington, this lake offers both locals and visitors outdoor opportunities for some recreational activity.

Its one of the best places near Bloomington where you can spend time and appreciate the great outdoors.

All year round, people here can enjoy fishing on the lake, boating, kayaking, and even jet skiing.

Oliver Winery Bloomington In

Indiana University law professor William Oliver founded Oliver Winery in the 1960s, and it has been producing excellent wines ever since. One of the largest wineries in the United States, Oliver Winery aims to produce wines that capture the flavor of the high quality grapes produced by the vineyard. Some of the wines they produce include semi-dry and dry whites and reds, dessert wines, and sparkling wines.

Mclean County Museum Of History

With nearly eight miles of trails, ranging from intermediate runs to more advanced downhills and obstacles, Wapehani sees plenty of traffic on the weekends and evenings. If you are planning to bike with friends, carpooling is a great option, as the gravel parking lot has enough room for maybe a dozen cars.

Take A Bloomington Indiana University College Campus Tour

A stroll through Indiana University is a MUST-DO when visiting Bloomington. It consistently ranks in the top 100 national universities in the U.S. and among the top 50 public universities. And it is one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation.

Walk through the large Sample Gates on a wooded trail to the Kirkwood Observatory, built in 1900 and now one of the distinctive buildings on campus. Then head over to the romantic Rose Well House, built in 1908 from stone door gates of the Old College Building. Next head inside of the Student Union building, the second largest in the world. It has a hotel, shops, a bowling alley, restaurants, and conference rooms. At this point, you probably will have noticed many of the buildings were constructed with locally quarried limestone.

Afterward, pop your head into Beck Chapel, a fairy tale place of worship. If you have time, walk into the Lilly Library to see an impressive collection of rare finds like one of the few copies of The Gutenberg Bible located in the United States, an autographed copy of Ulysses by James Joyce and Henri Matisse, an Academy Award statue from 1935, an assembly of the smallest books in the world and a copy of Audobons Birds of America.

Last but not least, head over to the greenspace at the IU Arboretum to end your tour.
