Finger Lakes Wine Country

Wine lovers rejoice well, I was anyway!

With more than a 100 wineries, distilleries, and breweries, around Seneca, Cayuga, and Keuka Lakes, this region is a haven for wine aficionados.

They specialize in Riesling and Gewurztraminer wines. While there are tons of tours to choose from, we recommend the Seneca Lake Wine Trail and a wine cruise along the Cayuga Lake where you can visit a few of the 26 wineries that are on the banks.

Its an amazing experience, just make sure to have a designated driver to hand. No one likes a drunken driver.

Appreciate The Struggle For Womens Rights

A New York family vacation should include some important history. Susan B. Anthony was one of the many activists who worked tirelessly to get a vote for women of the United States. She was even arrested for voting herself in 1872, decades before it became legal for women to vote.

Did you know that Anthony and many of her fellow suffragists lived, worked, and met in Rochester and Seneca Falls? Families can tour Susan B. Anthonys house, stroll through her neighborhood featuring a bronze statue of her drinking tea with fellow activist Frederick Douglas, and learn the story of the first Womens Rights Convention held in Seneca Falls about an hour away.

Today the National Park Service manages the Womens Rights National Historical Park in Seneca Falls. The park educates the next generation about the struggle of women to achieve equal voting rights across America.
