Paddleboarding In Costa Rica
When the water is reasonably calm, stand up paddle boarding is a great pastime to attempt. Even though Costa Rica is known for its surfing, stand-up paddleboarding allows you to enjoy the beaches without the waves.
Because the boards are heavy, long, and robust, stand up paddle boarding is very simple. As a result, this is one of the fun things to do in Costa Rica with the whole family and ideal for people of all fitness levels.
Arenal Lake
Because stand up paddleboarding on the open ocean can be challenging at times, I recommend paddling on calmer river estuaries and lakes. Arenal Lake is a great spot to practice your balance, especially if youre a beginner. In addition, during your SUPing session, you can admire the scenery of the Arenal Volcano region.
Guanacaste
Sámara Beach and the Peninsula Papagayo, both in the Guanacaste section of the northern Pacific coast, are great spots for stand up paddleboarding in Costa Rica. The coastlines are a little more sheltered here, so the waves arent as large, and the water is quiet and ideal for paddleboarding.
Demand For Real Estate In Guanacaste
As with most other provinces in Costa Rica, Guanacaste has seen a huge demand for all kinds of real estate opportunities, both commercial and residential properties are well sought after, which surprisingly has not led to an increase in the housing prices in the location. Year on year it seems both residential and commercial properties are decreasing in cost at a rate of 2.8%. The average price for a property in Guanacaste is now as little as $1,158 per square meter, These statistics buck the trend of Costa Rica on average where properties saw as much as a 5.5% increase on average, taking the cost per square meter of property owned up to $1,181.
Condos in the area have indeed seen a huge overall price increase, which makes the overall market landscape in Guanacaste look very unfavourable at the minute, but this is to be expected as with an increase in demand becomes an increase in price, not just in Guanacaste but all across the world.
Ideally, to get the most value for money in the province, you should be looking to purchase a house rather than looking to buy a condo at this time, unless you are looking to purchase in the region on Tamarindo, where the overall cost of a property is significantly reduced.

Things To See/do Without Being On Tour Or With A Guide
What are some things I can see/do that you dont have to go on a tour for or have a guide? I hate guided tours or anything where youre stuck with a group of tourists. Prefer to explore on my own. Thanks! Location doesnt matter

Location doesn’t matter? But where in CR are you traveling??
In Arenal, hanging bridges- can just buy an unguided entrance ticket. There will definitely be other visitors/tours around you though. Might be less crowded in the afternoon, but you never know.
You can visit the property and trails of near Arenal volcano on a day pass and go explore. If you aren’t driving, there is a local shuttle between it and La Fortuna.
You can buy online timed entrance tickets into Manuel Antonio NP and walk along its paths without a guide. It took us about 3 hrs. More time – for the beaches inside the park. We saw animals inside the park, in the rain season, but also lots of people. There is a longer public beach next to the park, too.
About 45 min. S. of the above, near Dominical, you can explore the trails of this National Wildlife Refuge on a day pass . While they offer guides, you don’t have to hire one. We stayed there and saw lots of wildlife during our self-guided walks along its trails at different times of the morning and afternoon.
