Sample Spirits At A Local Distillery
Distilleries are always on the top of our list any time we visit a new destination. About 90 minutes from Nashville in Lynchburg, youll find the home of the top-selling American whiskey in the worldJack Daniels. A tour of the Jack Daniels distillery demonstrates the care and craftsmanship that goes into this line of incredibly popular beverages.
Whether youre a Jack drinker or not, we couldnt recommend the tour here more highly. And, if you are a Jack drinker, definitely take the tasting tour. Its one of the best things to do in Tennessee!
If youd like to visit Jack Daniels but dont want to drive yourself, check out this convenient transportation option.
If you want to stick a little closer to Music City, there are several great Nashville distilleries to visit. Three of our favorites are Corsair Distillery, Nelsons Green Brier Distillery, and Nashville Craft Distillery.
At Corsairs location on Merritt Avenue, visitors can sample absinthe, whiskey, gin, or any of the other spirits at the bar or take a behind-the-scenes tour. Nelsons Green Brier Distillery offers tours, tastings, and cocktail experiences featuring their bourbons that are made using Pre-Prohibition family recipes. Nashville Craft Distillery produces small-batch spirits like gin and bourbon as well as unique offerings made from sorghum. I particularly liked their spiced honey liqueur.

The Opry was such a cool musical show. I would definitely recommend kicking it off with the backstage tour of the Ryman Auditorium!
The Highlights:
- History On the tour you learn a lot about the history of the Opry and get to see where the performers enter from and what their dressing rooms look like.
- Going on Stage Of course the highlight of the tour is getting to go out on state and stand in the circle where so many famous people have stood before. I got the chills multiple times when our guide was talking about the Opry and when we watched some of the moments where performers found out they were being inducted into the Opry.
- The Concert The concert itself was an amazing experience and you could feel the energy in the room as each person came on stage. Not to mention it is a live radio show so that added a whole other element to it.

Admire The Architecture Of Tennessee State Capitol
Tennessee State Capitol stands tall and proud on Cedar Knob, the highest point in Nashvilleâs downtown area. Dating back to the mid-19th century, the building stands out with its Greek Revival architectural design, which paved way to Nashville being proclaimed as the âAthens of the Southâ. It required the use of a building material used in ancient buildings, monolithic cut stones, making the edifice incombustible. The surrounding grounds became the standard in which most of Nashvilleâs parks were patterned. Once you step inside, you will notice the dominant use of columns to hold the ceiling up.
