The Ferris Wheel used to sit on Californias iconic Santa Monica Pier, and has been featured in 28 movies, including Iron Man.
The Wheeler District is an up-and-coming, mix-use urban development with an emphasis on providing a safe area for pedestrian and cyclists. As it continues to grow and expand, the district will likely become one of Oklahoma Citys premier neighborhoods, and it already has a good start with its trendy riverfront plaza.

Downtown OKC and surrounding areas are walkable and totally bicycle-friendly. The city has done a fantastic job installing an interconnecting system of bike paths throughout the city. Be sure you pack your comfortable walking shoes when you visit! You can rent a bike at a number of places and ride around or you can take a guided tour with local Ride OKC.
I like the latter, touring with Ride OKC because you can get local guides who know the area, the history, and the best food stops. We have taken media tours with them and can say that they are fantastic! Owner Ryan is a local architect and has a wealth of knowledge . Take your tweens or teens to experience the history they will study. The 45th Infantry Division Museum is one of the largest military museums in the country. Indoor exhibits include World War II artifacts and firearms. Outside, youll find aircraft, tanks, and more. The museum is free but does accept donations.

It is a great way to see the city. If you are staying downtown, there are stops near most of the areas hotels. A few friends talked about doing a Nacho/Taco Tour and a Brewery Tour and visiting stops along the streetcar route. I think this idea has GREAT potential.

Go To Chesapeake Arena And See The Oklahoma City Thunder
If you are a basketball fan like we are, you have to go and see the Oklahoma City Thunder if they are playing. It was absolutely one of the best things to do in OKC with kids. The arena has the feel of college arena where the crowd is so into the game.
As you head into the arena there are games to play and music to enjoy. Inside the concourse, there is some great food options a special area just for kids where they can play basketball, hang out with the mascot and just have fun.

You get to just kick back and enjoy bowling with your family and friends while food and drinks are served at your will. My husband really loved the bowling the most, but I think it is just because he won.
