Sedona Dog Park Rules
- Dog park use is at your own risk
- Hours of operation – April 1 – October 1 6:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., October 1 – April 1 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
- Dogs must have current vaccinations and city license
- All owners must clean up after dog’s
- Non-neutered males and females in heat are not permitted
- Excessive barking is not permitted – City of Sedona, Article 9-4-10E
- Owners must be with dogs at all times
- Dogs must be collared
- Dogs must be on a leash when coming in and out of park
- Dog treats are not permitted
- Children under 12 not permitted unless accompanied by an adult. Infants and toddlers are not recommended
- No glass containers or alcohol in park
- Weapons of any kind not permitted
- Smoking is not permitted
- Aggressive dogs are not permitted on premises. Dogs must be removed at the first signs of aggression
- Personal items such as chairs, dog bowls, and swimming pools that are left overnight will be discarded and unavailable for retrieval
Park in designated areas only. No West Sedona School parking please.

With 43 acres of land, Slide Rock State Park in Oak Creek Canyon offers endless opportunities for exploring with your dog. Dogs must be leashed at all times. The hours are 8 am to 6 pm. Note that the last chance you have to enter the park is at 5:30 pm.

DAY TWO & Three
Early start by driving 2 hours to Sedona.
Let me start by saying the photos of Sedona do not do it justice. The views are breathtaking in person! When you lay eyes on the red rock formations in the distance and feel the energy of the vortexes youll know there is nothing quite like it! All of Sedona is considered to be a vortex but there are specific sites where the energy is said to be more intense such as Airport Mesa, Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock and Boynton Canyon. A vortex is a concentrated area of energy useful for self-exploration. You will see people mediating or doing yoga. People say you do not leave Sedona unchanged and I would have to agree with them!
We spent the next 1.5 days exploring different dog friendly trails in Sedona. I recommend starting with the easier trails like Bell Rock trail or Airport View Trail which you can connect to the Airport Loop Trail if you are feeling ambitious. In my opinion, the best hikes are Cathedral Rock Trail and Devils Bridge Trail. Although both trails are challenging , the magnificent views make it worth the climb!
Where To Stay
There are many Airbnbs available but we decided to stay in a dog friendly hotel for our stay. I recommend finding a hotel or Airbnb in Sedona or West Sedona because it will be closer to all the restaurants and trails. In my opinion, they are all over priced.

When it comes to dog friendly accommodation, Sedona has a whopping number of hotels and inns. So finding a place to stay with your pup is really easy. Here are some suggestions:
Sky Rock Inn of Sedona is one of the more popular places for pet owners. Because of their great pet policy, I can see why! They allow two pets of any size for $30 per pet, per night and four-legged guests get treats, waste bags, and a water bowl. There are also lots of pleasant walking trails around the property and a dog park about a mile away.
A budget-friendly option is the Sedona Village Lodge, which allows large dogs and provides pet bedding and bowls upon request.
If youre looking for a completely unique stay, try a tiny home. There are a few places that offer this option around Sedona, but my favorite is Tiny Camp. They are 100% dog friendly and have multiple houses and styles to choose from. Some even have hot tubs and fire pits.

During a recent trip to Sedona, I was captivated by its breathtaking, surreal landscape. I wasnt surprised to learn that people from all over the world flock to the small town in northern Arizona to get a glimpse of the red rock formations. You cant find natural beauty like this anywhere else in the world. Sedona is also known as a spiritual center, a place where many claim to experience vortexes and inner transformations.
If theres one must-do when visiting Sedona, its hiking. My dog and I loved waking up everyday to the beautiful sky and red dirt and then going on hikes. In the afternoons, we visited shops and enjoyed the atmosphere of downtown because, aside from hiking, there are a ton of dog friendly things to do in Sedona.

Horseshoe Bend + Grand Canyon Dog Friendly Travel Guide
Day three & four
I encourage you to travel from Sedona to Horseshoe bend and the Grand Canyon as both have dog friendly trails with stunning views! After lunch on the third day, drive up to Page, Arizona to catch the sunset at Horseshoe Bend. The drive there is magnificent especially as the sun starts to set on the red rock formations. The sunset at Horseshoe Bend is worth the drive up there!
I recommend spending the night in an Airbnb or hotel at Page, Arizona and start the day early the next morning by driving the ~2 hours to the Grand Canyon. It will be a long wait to get into the National Park and costs $35 per car. In the Grand Canyon National Park we pulled over many times to get different views of the canyon and walked a mile on the Grand Canyon Rim Trail .
We headed back to Phoenix to catch a red eye back home.
During the time of our trip, much of Navajo Nation was still closed to tours which did not allow us to see Antelope Canyon.
Swim In Oak Creekcanyon
Sedona has many swimming holes nestled behind imposing red sandstone cliffs, featuring crystal clear waters. Tens more await discovery and exploration. Oak Creek Canyon offers some of the best natural pools in the area, accommodating thousands of locals and visitors every year.
Grasshopper Point is perfect for cliff jumping, sunbathing, and swimming. Midgely Bridge has deep sections for diving and swimming. However, its red rock beaches are the favorite of sun worshippers. You might also like Slide Rock for its stunning landscape, water slide chutes, and mini cascades.

23. Jeep Tours
Jeep Tours are a very popular thing to do in Sedona with kids. Your kids will have a blast on this southwestern off-road adventure!
The most popular jeep tour in Sedona is the Pink Jeep Tours. The Broken Arrow Tour is their most popular tour. I have heard many amazing things about this tour.
Since we are a family of 5, this tour would have cost us $700. This was not in our budget, so we went with a more budget-friendly tour and it did not disappoint.
Red Rock Western Jeep Tours
This more budget-friendly tour was through Red Rock Western Jeep Tours. We actually rode a jeep from A Day In The West but were told it was the same company. They run out of the same office and parking lot.
Red Rock Western Jeep Tours offers a Groupon. We paid only $250 for our family of 5! Much, much, more affordable!
I was a little apprehensive because Pink Jeep Tour has such a great reputation and great reviews. But, we gave it a try because it was so affordable.
Our tour guide was amazing, entertaining, and very knowledgeable!
We went on the Canyons and Cowboys tour. He took us to a cabin that was home to many Wild Western films.
We learned so much about Sedonas history, local plants, and wildlife. He also told us that Walt Disney had a home in Sedona and he showed us the rock that was rumored to be the inspiration for the ride Thunder Mountain at Disney. We are huge Disney Fans, so this was super interesting!

Pet Friendly Activities In Sedona
Sedona Dog Park Conveniently located in Northwest Sedona right off of Highway 89A its a great place to take your doggie out for a date and meet new furry friends. Sedonas dog park is large and has lots of space to help you run off that extra puppy energy.
Slide Rock State Park Slide Rock State Park is located at the base of Oak Creek Canyon is very pet friendly and a great place to enjoy a hike or even some camping. Make sure to keep your pooch on a leash while you explore this 43-acre park, and take in the beautiful rock formations.
Grand Canyon National Park If you are planning a trek out to the Grand Canyon make sure to bring your pooch along. Your dog is welcome on all the hiking trails as long as it stays on a leash and you make sure to clean up after it. Why should you be the only one to experience such great views?
Pet Friendly Tours If you contact many of the smaller Jeep Tour and Walking Tour Companies in the area they are more than willing to accommodate your doggie. Some are so pet friendly they have their own dogs theyll being along too!

Where To Stay In Sedona With Kids
19. Swimming at Your Hotel
After a long day of hiking and exploring Sedona, swimming is a great way for the kids to have fun and relax. All kids love to swim at their hotel pool on vacation!
We stayed at the Hilton Sedona Resort at Bell Rock. I highly recommend staying here with the kids. This resort is surrounded by Sedonas beautiful red rocks. There are two outdoor pools, three lighted tennis courts, an 18-hole golf course, a spa, and two restaurants.
It is also a pet-friendly resort for those who are bringing pets.
Fun Fact: Sedona is the most dog-friendly place I have ever been to. I felt like most people had a dog. I saw dogs on hikes, dogs at our hotel, dogs at restaurants. Many restaurants even had dog menus. ! The Hilton even had a special bandana for dogs and a gift bag for them at check-in. Being our first trip away from our 6-month-old puppy, it was difficult to see dogs everywhere and not miss her even more.
As a family of 5, we had plenty of room. We stayed in a 2 queen bedroom suite with a balcony. The living/dining area was separate from the bedroom, complete with a fireplace and a full-sized sofa bed.
One of our favorite things we did here at the hotel was making smores by the outdoor pool. This hotel definitely provides a lot of things to do with kids in Sedona.
Other Recommended Resort: Best Western Plus Arroyo Roble Hotel & Creekside Villas great location in Uptown Sedona within walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants.

16. Coffee Pot Restaurant
Yummy! Coffee Pot Restaurant is AMAZING! We ate here for breakfast and they have about anything you would like including 101 omelets to choose from!
This place will definitely make you feel like you are in the southwest from the decor to the Mexican-style breakfast items. I think I had guacamole at just about every meal in Sedona.
Picky kids no worries Pancakes, waffles, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to the rescue! My sons pancakes even had a smiley face! Your kids will not be disappointed here! You will all leave here with a very full tummy to start a day of exploring!
17. Cowboy Club
We ate at the Cowboy Club on our last night in Sedona. It was the perfect dinner to wrap up our trip to Sedona.
This family-friendly restaurant definitely gives you the feel of the Wild West from all the western memorabilia to the cowboy art all throughout the restaurant.
One of my favorite things about traveling is eating local food. We ordered the appetizer sampler which included cactus fries, rattlesnake sausage, and bison. I was too scared to try the rattlesnake, but Chris and the boys did and enjoyed it! Dont leave Sedona without coming here!
18. Mesa Grill Sedona
Mesa Grill Sedona is a great place to eat with the kids for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. What is unique about this restaurant is you can dine and watch planes and helicopters take off and land.
