You might be able to tell, but a pleasant stroll around the beautiful Hyde Park neighborhood with its leafy streets, green spaces and stunning Victorian mansions is one of the best things to do in Cincinnati on a Sunday. This is a genuine charmer of an area. Why Sunday? Because the Hyde Park Farmers Market goes on, which is always a pretty good bet for fresh produce, good food and a great local atmosphere.

If youre not here on a Sunday, dont worry: romantic stuff to do in Cincinnati doesnt get much better than simply strolling around Hyde Park, soaking up the architecture, taking pics of each other in front of beautiful architecture, and dipping in and out of cool coffee shops.

This Cincinnati attraction isnt typically on the lists you find of top places to visit in Cincinnati, but it absolutely should be.

The museum is full of antique and vintage neon and lit signs.

Visit Union Terminal And Activate Your Super Power

Iâm a 70âs kid and every Saturday I would wake up at an ungodly early time to sink into my beanbag chair with a blanket to watch cartoons. One of my favorites was Superfriends. When I walked into the stunning Union Station in Cincinnati, I was transported back to those bean bag mornings. I was entering the Hall of Justiceâ¦just like Wonder Woman. This was a childhood dream come true!

Union Terminal was indeed the inspiration for the Hall of Justice, but instead of super heros, it was teeming with families there to experience the Cincinati Museum Center. The center is home to the History Museum, Childrenâs Museum, Natural History Museum, and Holocaust and Humanity Center.

The building was originally built 1928. Passenger trains stopped service to the station in 1972, and the all but abandoned building was at risk of demolition when the city of Cincinnati bought it in 1975.

Thank goodness this architectural wonder was saved! It is now bustling with people and as you look around in the great hall, you canât help but be in awe of the mosaics and incredible Art Deco touches.

Catch An Opera At The Opulent Aronoff Center For The Arts

Wondering what to do in Cincinnati, OH? This travel guide ...

Adam Sonnett

Cincinnati certainly isnt short of historic buildings, some of the coolest of which happen to be beautiful old theatres. The best way to soak up the architecture of a theatre, of course, isnt just to gawp at the facade from outside but to actually buy yourself a ticket to a show and actually see what it looks like inside. The best atmosphere is always after dark, so one of the best things to do in Cincinnati at night is to spend an evening at the opera .

Theres a few gooduns to choose from, but we would say go for the Aronoff Center for the Arts. Though not as historic as others, you can catch Broadway shows here. Awesome.

Back In Time At The American Sign Museum

$$Camp WashingtonCincinnati has plenty of museums , but the American Sign Museum is the one most worth repeat visits. Its supremely Instagram-able since the huge space is lit up with flashing lights and buzzing neon. But beyond the one-of-a-kind retro aesthetic, theres some truly fascinating information on the history of sign-making Even the parking lot is loaded with antique signs that theyre in the process of restoring, so its hard to miss the place.

National Underground Railroad Freedom Center

EQRoy / Shutterstock

As a sobering look into the past, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is an uncomfortable but unforgettable destination in Cincinnati.

Offering stories, pictures, texts and relics from the days of slavery, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is something called a museum of conscience.

Its meant to offer a stark and realistic look at history so that visitors can really contemplate what life was like for previous generations.

Even its location is significant: The museum was built on the banks of the Ohio River where escaped slaves on the Underground Railroad would seek passage to Canada.

The centerpiece of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is a real-world slave pen that was transferred to Ohio for the museums founding.

Built in the 1800s, its a small log structure that measures just 20 x 30 feet across, but it used to house dozens of slaves awaiting auction.

Visitors can walk inside, touch the doors, look at the shackles and feel the walls closing in.

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center isnt for everyone.

Its a hard look at a tough topic, so it isnt exactly one of the fun things to do in Cincinnati.

If you like history, however, or if youre just interested in real history, this is definitely one of the biggest points of interest in Cincinnati.

Spend Some Time At The Smale Riverfront Park

One of the most popular public parks in Cincinnati is the Smale Riverfront Park.

The park is located on the banks of the Ohio River.

It connects downtown Cincinnati with the riverfront districts of the city and the gardens on the river banks.

There is a path that leads you along the river.

While you walk, youll get to experience some beautiful views of the Ohio River.

Youll also find gardens as you walk the trail and it also passes the famous John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge.

If you are visiting Cincinnati with kids, they will love the splash pad and playground in the park.
