The Brooklyn Flea has grown into one of New York Citys top attractions and should not be missed. Fondly known as the mother of all markets, the outdoor market starts on the first weekend in April and continues through November, and can be found in Fort Greene on Saturdays and Williamsburg on Sundays. Featuring hundreds of vendors, you will find everything and anything piled on folding tables, from vintage furniture and clothing to a handpicked selection of handmade jewelry, arts and crafts by local designers, as well as an array of beautiful antiques and collectables.

The market is also home to Smorgasburg, a vast all-food market that takes place in Williamsburg on Saturdays and Brooklyn Bridge Park on Sundays. Gourmands and foodies will delight in the delicious choices of artisanal cuisine on offer. During the colder months between November and March, the market moves indoors and continues trade under cover, while every summer four Flea/Smorgasburg food vendors showcase their wares at the Central Park Summer Stage outdoor concert series.

New York Transit Museum

One of the best places to check out in Downtown Brooklyn is the New York Transit Museum.

Its located underground, in a former subway station.

Visitors are fascinated by the displays of New York transit vehicles from the not-so-recent-past.

Although this station is no longer in use, its been given considerable respect that makes it a wonderful museum spot.

You can see discontinued subway cars, trolleys, buses and more.

If it wasnt for your smartphone, you might forget what time period youre in.

Transit has made NYC what it is today, and even if the vehicles seen at this museum are no longer in use, their legacy must always be respected.

This museum is open from Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, ages two to 17, and seniors, ages 62 and up.

Spend The Day In Williamsburg

Williamsburg has changed a lot in the last twenty years. In the early ’90s, it was a place for artists who were priced out of Manhattan, and it soon transformed into the epicenter of Brooklyn’s hipster culture. However, the edgy hood is in a constant battle with mainstream culture. There was a lot of buzz when Williamsburg got its first Starbucks, and now it’s home to Brooklyn’s first Apple Store and a Whole Foods, which boasts an incredible food hall. Despite the influx of chains, Bedford Avenue, Williamsburg’s main shopping street, is still filled with many local shops and restaurants and the area works hard to maintain its indie feel.
