The Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory is located within the Niagara Park Botanical Gardens, a tropical paradise filled with serene trickling waterfalls, thick lush vegetation, and over 2,000 vibrantly colored butterflies from more than 45 different species. Visitors begin their self-guided journey with a brief but informative video presentation before traversing almost 600 feet of pathways. The emergence window is a highlight where visitors can watch in awe as butterflies leave their pupae and take off ontheir first flight. More than half of the butterflies come from the butterfly farms in El Salvador, Costa Rica, and the Philippines, while the others are raised on site in a quarantined greenhouse.

Bruce Peninsula National Park is definitely one of the best places to visit in Canada during the summer. With the incredible weather, swimming and hiking around the park are desirable and certainly alluring due to the parks beauty. The park is a popular spot for camping during the summer, with campsites selling out far in advance. Due to the parks popularity, be sure to arrive around opening time on a day trip to ensure you can purchase parking.
Between the amazing hikes and views of Georgian Bay, you wont want to leave Bruce Peninsula National Park! People who visit love to go canoeing, scuba diving, and more. There are plenty of tours that bring you to boat wreckages or to Fathom Five National Marine Park.
In the nearby town, Tobermory, there are plenty of cute local shops and restaurants open to explore as well.

Waterton Lakes National Park

There are so many wonderful places to visit in Canada during the summer months but one of the best destinations is undoubtedly Waterton National Park. Located 260km from Calgary in Alberta, the park borders Montanas Glacier National Park in the USA and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
What is particularly special about Waterton in addition to the stunning scenery is that it still feels relatively undiscovered. Compared to some of the more famous parks in Alberta, including Banff and Jasper, Waterton is very lowkey. The small town of the same name sits within the park itself and is made up of just a handful of streets and family-run shops and restaurants.
There are lots of things to do in Waterton Lakes National Park but its especially well known for its hiking opportunities. Crypt Lake Trail is the most famous and challenging hike in the area. Waterton Lake is the deepest lake in the Canadian Rockies measuring 500ft deep. The waters are chilly, even during the height of summer, but still ideal for windsurfing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. Another fun activity is to take a boat trip with the Waterton Shoreline Cruise Co.
Other summer activities include cycling, wildlife watching, horse riding, and the annual wildflower festival. And dont miss afternoon tea at the Prince of Wales hotel, the enormous Hitchcockian hotel that dates back from the 1920s.

Stand Up Paddeboard On Two Jack Lake
Just a five-minute drive away from Lake Minnewanka is Two Jack Lake. Its another fantastic lake with stunner Mount Rundle Views. Two Jack is one of the most photographed lakes in the Canadian Rockies, due to its proximity to Banff. Its also my favorite spot to take the stand up paddleboard out on during a Banff summer. It has scenic views and isnt as wind affected as nearby Minnewanka.
Take A Day Trip From Ottawa
Get out of the city with an awesome day trip from Ottawa. Check out a small town nearby for shopping and snacks, or make your way to a nearby city for the day. Within 2 hours drive of Ottawa, you can have an incredible wildlife experience at Omega Park, go underground at the Bonnechere Caves, explore Old Montreal for a day, or cruise through the Thousands Islands.

Visit Trinity, one of the best preserved communities in the province.
Take a boat ride to Witless Bay to admire the teeming bird and sea life.
Do one of the day hikes in Terra Nova National Park.
Take the ferry for a day over to Labrador. Keep an eye open for whales.
Plan some time in the city of St. Johns one thats famous for its bars and night life

Places To Visit In Prince Edward Island In Summer
Go to the beach. This is what PEI is famous for. The waters are warm and generally safe for kids. The Greenwich Dunes section of PEI National Park is absolutely lovely.
Eat lobster in any way shape or form. Fresh is good, so are lobster rolls.
The same goes for pie.
Bike the Confederation Trail for the length of the island or at least part of it.
Watch the Anne of Green Gables Musical in Charlottetown now playing into its fifth decade.
Visit the house where the fictional Anne of Green Gables lived.
Head off for a day of deep sea fishing. Even tuna are caught off the shores of Prince Edward Island.

Staying in downtown Ottawa
Ottawa can easily be reached by air, train or car. If youre planning to stay in Ottawas downtown core and visiting outside the area, we recommend renting a car or using your own. Its a fairly straightforward drive on highway 417 to reach the western parts of Ottawa. We just recommend that you avoid travelling the 417 during rush hour traffic if possible.
While our favourite suburbs to the west can be reached using a combination of the O-train and OC Transpo buses, the service isnt convenient and reaching most of our off the beaten track things to do in Ottawa would be difficult and time-consuming, if not impossible, using public transit.
Staying outside downtown Ottawa
If youre visiting Ottawa in summer and staying outside the downtown area, youre stay will be much more relaxed and youll be closer to more off the beaten track things to do in Ottawa with kids.
If arriving by air, Uber or a local taxi will get you to your accommodation in less than 30 minutes.
If you plan to arrive in Ottawa by train, make sure to book your ViaRail train ticket with final destination at Fallowfield-Ottawa. The Fallowfield station is located in the heart of Barrhaven and is the closest train station to any accommodation in Barrhaven, Stittsville or Kanata.

Located right in the heart of the city and next to the beautiful South Saskatchewan River, Park Town Hotel is home to one of the cities most popular weekend breakfast buffets at Four Seasons Restaurant, as well as a comedy club, Irish Pub, and martini bar! The beds were incredibly comfortable, the WiFi was great, and the room was just perfect. Highly recommended!
Alt Hotel: Another place weve stayed in is the Alt Hotel, which is located right across the street from the Remai Modern Art& Design Store and Museum. Its beautiful and new, with some of the higher-up rooms offering some of the best views in the entire city. The rooms are a mix of Ikea and Industrial, giving it an urban-artsy appeal.
