Day Two In Nashville: Exploring Downtown
On day 2 of this Nashville travel guide, its time to hit the streets and see what Nashville has to offer. As I mentioned in the top things to do section, you can follow one of these excellent self-guided city tours.
Walking tours takes you to twenty different sites and historic districts. Whichever one you choose to follow will give you a great introduction to Music City!
In the afternoon, you should definitely check out either the Country Music Hall of Fame or the Johnny Cash Museum. The former is much larger and has a lot more to see, so youll need to budget a couple of hours if you go that route. Its worth it to pay the extra two bucks to get the audio guide in this huge museum.
Be sure to take a stroll through the Music City Walk of Fame Park in the Nashville Music Garden. The star-studded pavement here honors music legends who have contributed to Nashvilles musical history.
You have plenty of options for where to eat dinner downtown. Please skip out on the chain restaurants such as Hard Rock or Margaritaville. You didnt come to Nashville to eat a shitty $20 burger!
On your second night in Nashville, get out there and see some live music! How you choose to spend your night depends on your budget and music taste. Between May and October, you can catch a show at the awesome Ascend Amphitheatre. Its one of my favorite outdoor music venues in the US.

Jefferson Street Sound Museum
Visitors to Nashville learn mostly about country music but the citys impact is much wider. During the 1960s, it was home to rock legends like Little Richard and Jimi Hendrix. Jefferson Street was a bustling Black business district where the likes of Etta James, Ray Charles, and Aretha Franklin performed.
But the racist demolition in the name of urban development shuttered these sacred spaces. The Jefferson Street Sound Museum opened in 2013 as a way of memorializing this period of music history that predated modern Music Row. Theres also a studio and production space.
Owls Hill Nature Sanctuary
Owls Hill Nature Sanctuary
Despite the name, there are a lot more than just owls at Owls Hill Nature Sanctuary.
Its a protected area for many species of Tennessee wildlife, including birds, reptiles, amphibians and small mammals.
If you want to go exploring, tours are available through the crunchy leaves of its nature trails.
If you like more structured activities, you can sign up for a basket-weaving class or a sunny picnic in the grass.
If youre interested in special events in Nashville, you can swing by during a seed sale or a movie in a meadow feature.
All proceeds go towards conservation.
The sanctuary is a nonprofit with a good reputation, and its goal is to rehabilitate animals, repopulate plants and reignite the public passion for the environment and everything living within it.
If you love animals but hate seeing them in overcrowded, underfunded places, your heart can rest easy at Owls Hill Nature Sanctuary in Nashville.
Not only does it offer some of the best views that youll ever see of Tennessee flora and fauna, but your ticket sale will go towards a good cause.
